Impala’s Artist Spotlight 🎨 Meet Brooke
If you’re into bold colors and beachy vibes, you’re going to love Brooke Kelley! The creative genius behind Bevy and Brine and our lovely Zeina Longboard answers our questions about how it all started, inspo, and advice for newbie artists!

Hey Brooke! Can you tell us a little about your artistic journey and how the name “Bevy and Brine” came to be?
I started making art when I was really young, and it always just stuck with me. I started Bevy and Brine a while back when I was teaching nature art classes at a farm. Bevy means a group or gathering of people, and Brine means salt water. Both of these things bring me a lot of joy and makeup what Bevy and Brine is now. We wouldn’t be here without all the amazing people that we get to design with, and we get so much inspiration from the ocean, its surroundings and the people we meet inside of it.

What was the inspiration behind the artwork you created for the Zeina longboard? Any particular themes or elements you want to highlight?
My inspiration for the Zeina board came from a page of doodles that I did a while back. A lot of times I will make some doodles or little paintings just for fun and forget about them until years later the perfect project comes along, or a client is needing some art, and then I get to bring those pieces back to life. It’s always fun seeing what they end up getting used for. I am so happy for the chance to use that design for the Zeina board, that pattern always made me happy when I would look at it.

Aside from longboards, what other unconventional canvases would you love to see your art on?
That's a hard question, a longboard is hard to beat. Possibly on a bikini, that would be pretty awesome.

When you're not creating your signature magical illustrations, what other artistic outlets or hobbies do you enjoy exploring (if you have the time!)?
Haha, we rarely have the time, but when we have any free moments we are most likely surfing.

If the Zeina longboard had a soundtrack to match its vibe, what songs or artists would be on repeat?
Hello Sunshine by Aretha Franklin

Lastly, if you could give one piece of advice to any aspiring artists who might be reading this, what would it be?
Do your best to learn and excel at the not-so-fun business side of things.
