Impala’s Shop Talk: Meet Fritzy's Roller Skate Shop
Are you ready to roll? Our new series, Shop Talk, is here to shine a light on our Impala shop crew - from around the world! First up, meet the dream team at Fritzy’s Roller Skate Shop in San Diego, California.
How long has the store been around?
Fritzys had been a long-time dream of Christina Stang, but in the winter of 2019-2020, she decided it was time to find a location by the beach and make that dream a reality. After securing a building in January 2020 and a few months of renovations, the launch date was scheduled for March 20, 2020. Lo and behold, what was supposed to be a primarily brick-and-mortar beach stop quickly turned into an online powerhouse. In the span of two weeks, we were shipping out thousands of orders to people stuck in their homes due to Covid. We now have two locations, one right by the beach in Pacific Beach and the other inside Skateworld San Diego.
Who runs the store/who’s behind the store?
Christina “Fritz” Stang is the founder, Brett Stang is the shipping and stock master, and Chalice Aguilar is our store manager.
How did they get into skating?
Christina started skating at her local roller skating rink in San Jose, CA and then joined her local rink hockey team and the rest is history!
Brett was born into skating, there is even a picture of him in his baby carrier on the snack bar counter at the rink.
Chalice got into skating later in life but has true passion, making the cutest skate setups from the skates, laces, and wheels.
What are their favorite Impala skates?
Christina's favorite pair of Impala skates are the Barbie Inlines!
Brett's favorites are the classic Black Rollerskates and the Sahara Inlines.
Chalice also likes the Sahara Inlines.
